This is a 3ds Max maxscript I created for the purpose of achieving a specific look. It was written over the course of a few days in my downtime while renders were going. It uses Editable_Spline shapes to create a path deformed cylinder. The result is an animated streak from point A to point B with an impact option. The impact option allows users to add an effect onto the end of the path streak to simulate contact such as an explosion of some sort. For my example I have a animated target object appear. The impact option will adjust the keys of the targeted object to perfectly time with the impact of the path and the ground.
