Pipes Gen

Downloads:

Here is another tool developed for 3ds max. This tool makes the creation of pipe systems and roadway systems a simple task. It takes referenced geometry from within the scene and populates a system based on user settings. This tool was developed by John Martini (Me) and Denis Trofimov, as well as ideas from the forum community of CGTalk and ScriptSpot. Thank you everyone for the help you’ve all supplied. This tool will continue to develop and evolve.

Check out the max files in the downloads section for examples. A tutorial will be posted soon.

Hey, i made a comment on cgtalk a couple of days ago but seems since its only my 2nd post ever there it needs to be approved by a moderator. It still hasn’t been approved but u can just ignore it whenever it gets published.
Anyhow great work on this script! iam really liking it so far. I had a play around with the script and made little blogpost about it including a vid of using it and my max scene:
http://3dvance.nl/heated-towel-rails-in-3d-pipes-generator-script/

The three main things i was missing (or am overlooking :) ):
- Not possible to rename the pointhelpers before adding them to the list so it can get hard to distinquish the different parts in the list. Made a quick little vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQSfHQd5Eu0
- The option to have the generated pipes as instances. So if i would like to adjust or add detail to the base models later on i dont need to rebuild the whole pipe system
-pipe rig template of a part that has openings in 3 axis.

Make sure you have placed the installed icons in the appropriate folder. Else it wont run correctly. There are instructions on this page that explain how to install it.
